Anna Fritz, Seth Martin

August 21, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

$6
Seth Martin hails from the Pacific Northwest but currently lives as a musician and activist in South Korea. An accomplished roots musician with 7 albums and several countrywide tours behind him, Martin has a knack for getting everyone singing, stomping, laughing or crying along with him and a guitar or banjo as he weaves 100 year old folk ballads together with originals to share deep and emotional narratives that focus on environmental justice and the dignity and interconnectedness of working folks, past and present, all over the world. An international voice that never loses sight of, or love for, his own Pacific Northwest rural roots.

Anna Fritz, a founding member of Portland Cello Project, performs original songs for cello and voice, touching on themes of gender, justice, spirituality, and connection to the natural world. She has the training of a classical player and the experience of a touring rock musician, which gives her brand of folksinging a unique flavor. Anna’s performances are disarmingly vulnerable with plenty of direct connection with her audience. Her powerful, heart-centered songs and authentic presence often move audiences to sing along, something she greatly encourages. Although Anna embraces her folksinger identity, her sound is informed by an eclectic musical career, tracing a path from the conservatory to the dive bar and back to the concert hall. In addition to her classical training and seven years touring with Portland Cello Project, she has recorded with bands such as The Decemberists, My Morning Jacket, Blue Cranes, and Dirty Projectors.
