Hawkeye Pierce, Ripe Red Apple, The Dark Mother

Born and bred in the endless sun of Southern California but baptized by the sweltering humidity and thunderstorms of life in the South in late teens/early adulthood, the sound of Hawkeye Pierce represents a Westerner’s return to his familial Southern roots. The proto-rock, gospel, and country of the Chiltin’ Circuit blends with the lumbering grooves of Heartland rock to create a stirring blend of soulful cowpunk. The frenetic energy of the Atlanta garage/punk scene runs a vein through the music; with traces of shoegaze and space rock transcending the constraints of genre and creating something famliar yet altogether refreshing. A black rocker, an afro punk, trying to make peace with all the myriad of influences that inspire him. At home in the barn or the barroom and without measure on long drives through the countryside or more desolate open spaces.
